The Artisanal Flavours of the Box
The box includes two artisanal jams that stand out for their originality and complexity of flavours, offering a true journey through the aromas and textures that define Portuguese confectionery, as well as sesame crackers to accompany them.
Azores Pineapple Extra Jam with Lemongrass – 75g
This jam is a tribute to the exotic Azores pineapple, a fruit with Protected Designation of Origin (PDO), cultivated using traditional glass greenhouse techniques in São Miguel. The pineapple features a vibrant orange peel and translucent yellow flesh, with a uniquely tangy-sweet taste that evokes memories of the sunlit fields of the Azores.
Its combination with lemongrass – an aromatic plant that grows naturally in savannas and is known for its strong lemon flavour – gives the jam a refreshing aroma and citrus notes that enhance the fruit's sweetness. The result is a jam with a perfect balance between the tangy pineapple and the vibrant touch of lemongrass, creating a truly unique sensory experience.
Ideal for spreading over oat biscuits, toast, or as a topping for desserts, this jam is also an excellent accompaniment for vinaigrettes and appetisers with cured ham, especially Pata Negra or Serrano. Its versatility allows it to be incorporated into cocktails, pairing surprisingly well with vodka, gin, or rum, adding a new dimension to the palate.
Rocha Pear and Redcurrant Jam with Melissa and Pink Pepper – 75g
The second jam in this box is a true celebration of traditional Portuguese confectionery, where the smoothness of Rocha Pear from the Oeste region, recognised with a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) and cultivated along the Central West Coast, meets the tangy vibrancy of redcurrant. The combination of these fruits results in a slightly grainy-textured jam, distinguished by the balance between the pear's sweetness and the refreshing acidity of the redcurrant.
Furthermore, the addition of melissa and a subtle touch of pink pepper enhances the flavours, giving the jam a unique aromatic note and a mildly spicy finish that highlights its complexity. These flavour combinations make the jam an ideal accompaniment for smoked meats and cured ham, such as Iberian ham or Black Pork ham, or even for toast with brie, blue cheeses, and goat's cheese.
This jam is also perfect for use as a topping on ice cream, yoghurts, panna cotta, crepes, and pancakes, or as a filling for cakes and biscuits, turning each tasting into a moment of discovery and delight.
Ondina Sesame Crackers – 125g
The Ondina Sesame Crackers complete the box, offering a light and crunchy snack option that enhances the flavours of the jams. Made with wheat flour, Aveiro sea salt, vegetable margarine, water, chickpeas, and hulled sesame seeds, these crackers contain only 13.8g of fat per 100g and have no added sugar, lactose, yeast, colourings, or preservatives.
Their wavy shape and fine texture make them an ideal choice for eating on their own or as a base for sophisticated appetisers. The crackers are perfect for pairing with the jams, creating combinations that turn each bite into a flavourful journey, where crunchiness blends with the smoothness of the jams and the intensity of the flavours.
In addition to being an excellent option for snacks or breakfasts, these crackers are versatile enough to be used in innovative recipes, pairing well with cheeses, pâtés, and even complementing gourmet salads.

Origin of raw materials
The pineapple from Azores/S. Miguel from Portugal (Ananas comosus L. Merril, Cayene variety) is produced in glass greenhouses using traditional cultivation techniques: application of “fumes” and the use of “warm beds” based on vegetable matter. After a period of two years, from planting to harvesting, a fruit with unique aroma and flavor qualities is obtained. The culture was introduced in S. Miguel around 1840-50, being commercialized in Europe for more than a century. Cylindrical shaped fruit, slightly tapered, with a strong orange peel and yellow pulp. The pineapple pulp has a translucent yellow color, a sui generis bittersweet flavor and a very pleasant aroma.
Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) appears spontaneously in the savannas of southern India, Indonesia and Malaysia, and is widely cultivated in Africa and Brazil, as a medicinal and spice plant, supplying the cosmetic, pharmaceutical and food industries. Used in tea, it results in a very pleasant drink with a strong lemon flavor, which works as a digestive and can accompany meals. Can be used to improve bad mood and heartburn. It also has a hepatoprotective and antispasmodic action on the digestive tract. It has calming properties, so it is consumed to improve sleep, along with linden.
Pear Rocha do Oeste PDO is an exclusively Portuguese variety, mostly produced on the Central West Coast of Portugal, with a production area of approximately 10,000 ha. Climatic factors and the expertise of the people of the West are decisive conditions for obtaining this product with exceptional organoleptic qualities, appreciated and recognized worldwide.
Rocha Pear PDO – Protected Designation of Origin – has the Community recognition as a traditional, quality product, which is an integral part of the Portuguese Cultural Heritage. Currants come from a bush and there are different cultivars (different types of the same plant) that produce it. These bushes at a stage of maturity can yield about 3 to 4 kg of currants for each one. Gooseberries are usually ready to be picked between mid and late summer. The bush reaches heights of 1m to 2m, produces a greenish-yellow flower. Gooseberries grow on the branches of the bush, being a bright red fruit.
Pink peppers Aroeira-Reda, Aroeira-pimenteira or poivre-rose are popular names of the species Schinus terebinthifolia, a tree native to South America of the Anacardiaceae family.
Red Pepper from Póvoa de Varzim in Northern Portugal.
